Business concept

Number of people interested in social dancing as performance art, sport or hobby is limited. Whereas majority of adult population interested in finding intimate partner or going out at night with existing intimate partner.

Make event comfortable for non-dancers, including beginners who decide not to participate in the dance party after the free lesson.

Venue owner provides: sound system, furniture layout, dance floor preparation, bar, food service, security, cleaning. Some nightclub venues might charge no fee on Monday or other slow nights because dance party attracts customers who buy drinks. Possibly split entrance fees with venue, with guarantee of minimum attendance (venue share of minimum attendance is their minimum fee), as incentive for promoter to increase attendance. Avoid incentive for venue to dump promoter and do their own promotion and event management. Avoid long-term commitments to venues that we do not control.

Start with Monday night at small club, then add Friday/Saturday night at big nightclub if enough dancers. Be ready to shrink back to Monday night if big event doesn't work.

We provide event promotion and event management: marketing, collecting entrance fees, music, pre-party lesson, enforcing rules (venue security handles expelling troublemakers).

Talking points (media interviews, discussions with prospective attendees, etc)

Close embrace dance style is taken from the world of tango dancing, where it is the most common of various embraces and dance styles used for dancing to tango music. We use this embrace and dance style for all types of music we play, not just tango music. By using a single embrace and dance style, we reduce the amount to learn, so that beginners can quickly participate in our dance parties. Using a single embrace and dance style also ensures that everyone knows what to expect when they issue or accept an invitation to dance.

Our close embrace dance parties focus on dancing as a social activity, a way of connecting with people of the opposite sex, versus dancing as amateur performance art or competitive sport. Our dancers may not look impressive to spectators but that is not their goal. Rather, their goal is to create an enjoyable dance experience for themselves and their partner via a comfortable embrace and close connection to the music.

Various categories of people might be interested in our dance parties: (1) singles looking for intimate partner; (2) couple in honeymoon phase of relationship, still wanting to go out at night, dancing exclusively with one another; (3) couple past past honeymoon phase of relationship, wanting to go out at night, no longer dancing exclusively with one another but rather switching dance partners; (4) singles not looking for or expecting to meet intimate partner, but nevertheless interested in dancing and socializing with the opposite sex. 5) There are also some people who are not currently interested in meeting an intimate partner or enjoying the act of dancing for its own sake, but rather want to learn and practice dance skills for future use. Social dancing in close embrace is not a difficult skill, but it is not trivially easy either, so if you don't have that skill already, best to start learning now, long before when you will want to use that skill. 6) Finally, a last category of attendees who we welcome at our dance parties, are people who do not dance but simply come to socialize, watch other people dance, listen to music, enjoy food and drink.

(only if asked) Social dancing benefits society in two ways. First, it promotes relationship and eventual family formation in a much more natural way than online dating services. Second, in the future, our social dance events might attract tourism business.

Music

Playlist order (jumps of 13 to shuffle ordering):
1,14,7,20,13,6,19,12,5,18,
11,4,17,10,3,16,9,2,15,8

Multiple smartphones with playlist, in case one smartphone dies.

Some dancers have no musical sense and are only interested in being embraced by person of opposite sex. Other dancers are extremely sensitive to music. Music selection and sound level control should focus on second group, since first group doesn't care.
